EVIDENCE
Western drywood termite
They are a destructive pest that feeds directly on wood without the need for contact with soil or external sources of moisture. They live inside the wood they consume, which makes them difficult to detect until significant damage has already occurred. Common signs of infestation: * Frass or dry droppings: Small, hard pellets that resemble grains of sand, expelled by termites from their tunnels. These often accumulate near cracks in wood or on the floor. * Hollow-sounding wood when tapped. * Small exit holes on wood surfaces. * Discarded wings: Often found during swarming season, when winged adults emerge to form new colonies. * Internal damage: Smooth tunnels inside the wood, with no mud present (unlike subterranean termites).
Subterranean termite
Subterranean termites are one of the most destructive pests in the world. They live in the soil and build massive colonies that can cause serious structural damage in a short period of time. These termites search for wood or other cellulose-based materials and attack from underground, often remaining unseen until significant damage has already occurred. Common signs of infestation: * Mud tubes on walls, foundations, or structural elements * Hollow-sounding wood when tapped * Bubbling or damaged paint caused by internal moisture * Unusual moisture present in wooden structures
